“These clothes are juuuuuust right!”

Said no one ever.

How often do you run into the "anything-but-Goldilocks" problem when you're buying clothing (especially for fitness)?

You're at the store, the clothing looks great, but then the size feels like it goes from "I might as well be wearing sweatpants to "I can't even breathe in this"! That, or the hip-to-legs ratio is off for #TeamThunderThighs (sigh).

Once you do find something that fits, then the next question hits you...

"How secure is this? Am I going to accidentally expose myself when I squat/invert/dance?"

Other times, it functions well... but doesn't do much else for you. Looks, comfort, and awesome colors? Nooooo. Not a chance.

Then, at last, say you find the one pair of leggings that seems like it ticks all the boxes. In the perfect bright color that's got all your friends saying, "that's so you!".

But then a few trips into the washing machine and poof. Soon enough, the color just doesn't look the same.

Like having to listen to your favorite song with the volume turned all the way down.

Grrrrrr.

They Only Fit You if You Fit the Mould

It's as if they made the clothes to fit that photoshopped, "picture-perfect" fitness model from that one magazine...

AND NO ONE ELSE!

Why can't they understand that we come in all shapes and sizes?

Why can't I find something that does everything I need it to do?

Why, why, whyyyyyyyyyyyyy??

...Go ahead and fling the nearest object at the wall. We'll be right here.

No, not your phone. Trust me, that cracked screen won't fix itself.

Feel a little better now? Okay, hear me out!

What’s a self-loving pole enthusiast to do?

"I can't possibly be the only one with this problem. How hard is it to find something that does everything I need?"

Turns out, with a little production guidance from someone who's been doing pole for over a decade (because those little details do matter)... it's doable.

Can it stay secure even while I'm inverted?

Can it be comfortable enough to wear even while I'm just lounging and watching Netflix?

And finally, can I look damn good while wearing it?

Yes, yes, and yes!

And that's how OTP, or Off The Pole was born.

My biggest challenge is injuries, preventing me from competing and teaching. So frustrating! I spend more on treatment than on my mortgage. I’ve spent a lot of time researching back strength – I see dangers for students and I wish I had known more. OTP is in all my classes now. I trust Sarah more than doctors! My goal is to get stronger to push through to a higher level. Some moves are impossible for me, such as Shoulder Mountain and Iron X. I’m impatient and frustrated I can’t progress that fast, so I push too hard. Keeping injuries at bay is my biggest challenge. I need core & upper body conditioning. Am I strong enough?
